Craft egg & bacon taught me patience

Photo taken by Celine Lai

“Klutz has beaut kits for crafting mini food treats or mini animals! Just “google” or search Klutz “Sew Mini Treats” or “Klutz Sew Mini Animals” for where to buy a kit from.

On Easter Monday, my sister and I made “egg and bacon.” The egg with the large rosy cheeks was poached by my sister, although I forgot to tell her she could use the tiny pre-cut pink cheeks!

I patiently put together the Bacon, mind you I only did one Rasher with just one streaky strip of white fat (straight down the middle).

Two important things that I’ll point out about this Kit, is that the needles which come with it, are far too large, for pushing through the felt. You will need to get a finer needle from your own sewing set or buy one.

Also, the ply comes in 6 ply, and you need to separate out one fine strand from a bundle of colored ply, then gently pull on it and pull it away from the rest of the ply.

I find it best to measure the edges of the sewing area and use triple the amount of thread, but you may have to be careful and hold your thread straight and observe it, otherwise it may knot!

Some of the profits will go into research into ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome).

Rosey’s necklaces are divine and give the wearer a peace and reassurance that comes from the metaphysical properties of the crystals she uses, and from the skilful and artful way in which she puts the necklaces together! I know because I own 2 of Rosey’s necklaces!

Rose quartz, snow quartz and green jade necklace

This one has 12mm snow quartz quartz, 10mm and 8mm green jade, 12mm 10mm 8mm rose quartz nuggets, and gold plated snowflake beads, with 925 sterling silver clasp and findings. I count myself blessed to have found and bought this beauty.

Have I mentioned that I love pretty things and bling??

Well, my latest brooch is this magnificent ice blue, amber and jonquil yellow floral brooch, fit for a bride or a bridesmaid or ….. for  me !

I was lucky enough to purchase it from a very kind and genuinely helpful seller Matthew, in West Virginia,USA, who has an amazing online store on Etsy, called –

From the Vanity

The photo was taken off me today out-doors on an overcast rainy day, as we’re heading into winter here “Down Under”.   I plan to wear this beauty in the office with my blue jumpers and look forward to looking gorgeous and showing off this amazing flower brooch.

Matthew’s love for all things vintage certainly shows through his wonderful products that he offers for purchase, and at the time of posting this, he has a Sale!

I was truly astonished to also receive a FREE gift of this gorgeous necklace with my brooch.  I’ve worn it every day to work and had people admire and comment upon it.  It was just right for me when I got it – amazonite stone chips for communication – and a large heart which reminds me to act from the heart.  It’s uncanny that Matthew selected it for me, as something he thought I would find delightful – which I do.

Religious Bracelets and other treasures

I may have mentioned in another post that I was brought up Catholic.  Well I have just bought a beautiful Fellowship Bracelet from a wonderful eBay seller  the Immaculata   for a good friend of mine in the USA.   It is a unique chunky bracelet with charms, as above.

Now I’ve gone back to the site & purchased for myself a pretty multi-coloured stone chip bracelet.  It has a small stone butterfly and stone cross.  When I was younger my favorite bracelet was one with a stone cross!  It is beautiful.  I love multi-colours too!

Head over now to look at the amazing array of items for yourself in the United States, or another country – –   or for a Friend or family member.   UPDATE:  Sadly (for me) I did not get the bracelet above, because the Seller could not post it to me in Australia due to shipping constraints.  If I was in the USA the same country as the seller, I would have been able to purchase it.

Perth Royal Show 2015

Purrfectly Cool_Perth_Royal_Show_2015

It’s on again!  The Perth Royal Show, this year, runs from Saturday 26th September until Saturday 3rd October 2015.  Just one week of games, rides, showbags, animals, exhibitions and purchases you wouldn’t normally make!

My sister and I bought our tickets earlier from our local IGA store with a saving of $4, making our Adult priced tickets $25 each rather than $29 each.  Any saving is a saving, we thought.  Having perused the parking suggestions on the official website, we decided to park at Rowe Park, the closest parking to the show at the Claremont Showgrounds.

I’m used to getting up around 6.15 am to go to work, so my sister stayed the night at my house on Friday 25th, then on Saturday 26th, we got up early, had a light breakfast & got ready.  Off we went, with my sister driving, loaded with camera, coffee in a thermos flask, hats, and a bottle of Powerade drink each.  We arrived at the little concrete car park for the actual Park, about 7.50 am, yes, at ten to 8.   We planned to get there an hour before the Show started, because we heard there was very limited parking.   We also though that one had to pay $20 for official parking.

However, because we had got there so very early, luckily, we were able to park in the official car park, rather than have to drive onto the lawn, which I think is what you have to pay for.  Rowe Park was a pleasant grassy area with swings and amenities, a great place for kids to play in or adults to sun themselves to have a sleep, or to do some pleasant reading.  In the car, I sipped my coffee eagerly, while noting a Sign reading “Surveillance Cameras” in use.

If you are driving, I recommend you turn into Langsford Street, Vaucluse Avenue or Reserve Road, off Stirling Highway, as shown below, to get to Stevens Road.   The small Car Park is off Stevens Road.  You then simply get out off your car, and bear right-ish or cross the road carefully ( two lanes ) and walk to the right under the bridge then around to the left and there is Gate One.

Rowe Park Continue reading
